The major finance applications out there are too bloated (and expensive!) for my needs, and I desperately need a way to track my spending habits as a college student. Hence, the aptly-titled Broke came into existence. Its scope is very limited: it allows you to track deposits and withdrawals among several accounts of your choice, categorize items, and view simple graphs of spending habits. However, Broke does what it aims to do quickly, and employs an open, documented XML format.
